Many non-Christians and new Christians often struggle with the idea of the Holy Trinity, where we divide God into father, son and Holy Spirit. This is important for Christian beliefs, but difficult to understand, because it seems to be a complete paradox. How can Christians who only talk about one God and one God believe that he has three things? Trinity means three, so when we talk about the Holy Trinity, we mean the Father (God), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit (sometimes called the Holy Spirit). In the Bible, we are taught that God is one thing. Some people call him a god. However, God chose the way to talk to us. In Isaiah 48:16, we are told, “Get closer and listen to this. I told you clearly from the beginning what was going to happen. Now the Lord God and his Spirit have sent me this word. (NIV) Here we can clearly see that God is saying that he will send his Spirit to talk to us. So God is the real God. He is the only God who uses other parts of himself to accomplish his goals. The Holy Spirit speaks to us. That’s the little voice in your head. Jesus is not only the Son of God, but also the Son of God. He is God’s way of showing us what we can understand. None of us can see God, not materially. The Holy Spirit was also heard and not seen. However, Jesus is the physical manifestation of God that we can see. Why do we divide God into three parts? At first it sounds confusing, but when we understand the work of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, breaking it down makes it easier for us to understand God. Many people have stopped using the term “trinity” and started using the term “trinity” to explain the three parts of God and how they form a whole. Some people use mathematics to explain the Holy trinity. We can’t think of the Holy Trinity as the sum of three parts (1 + 1 + 1 = 3), but show how each part multiplies with other parts to form a wonderful whole (1 + 1 + 1 = 1). Using the multiplication model, we prove that these three forms form a union, so people begin to call it trinity. Sigmund Freud believes that our personality consists of three parts: identity, ego and superego. These three parts influence our thoughts and decisions in different ways. So, consider father, son and Holy Spirit as the three personalities of God. We, as human beings, are balanced by impulsive identity, logical ego and moral superego. Similarly, the omniscient Father, Master Jesus and the Holy Spirit who guided us balanced God in a way that we can understand. They are God’s different nature. He is a being. If mathematics and psychology are not helpful in explaining the Holy trinity, maybe this is: God is God. He can do anything, anything, everything every second of every day. We are human beings, and our minds cannot always understand everything about God. That’s why we have things like the Bible and prayer to bring us closer to understanding him, but we don’t know everything like he does. Saying we can’t fully understand God may not be the cleanest or most satisfying answer, so we need to learn to accept it, but that’s part of the answer. We have a lot to learn about God and his desire for us, so to grasp the Holy Trinity and interpret it as a scientific thing can take us away from the glory he created. We need to remember that he is our God. We need to read Jesus’teachings. We need to listen to the dialogue between his soul and ours. That’s the purpose of the Trinity, and that’s the most important thing we need to know.
